Plugins
Plugins allow you to extend the features and functionality of your website. They allow you to tailor your site for specific needs. These customisations range from search engine optimisation, to client portals used to display private information for logged in users, to content displaying features, such as the addition of widgets and navigation bars.

Pages vs Posts
Posts are time critical, whereas Pages are static. This means you should only use Posts if there is something that relates to a time based publication of information. All other content should be in pages. If you website is a blog or a news site then Posts are the ideal.
