These customisations range from search engine optimisation, to client portals used to display private information for logged in users, to content displaying features, such as the addition of widgets and navigation bars.

Themes allow you to easily change the look and some functionality of your website without altering the core code or site content. You can change Themes as much as you like, but each one does need some configuration to make it look like its preview image. You must look at the Theme’s documentation to understand how it works. Themes are built using HTML (HyperText Markup Language), and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

Pages vs Posts

Posts are time critical, whereas Pages are static. This means you should only use Posts if there is something that relates to a time based publication of information. All other content should be in pages. If you website is a blog or a news site then Posts are the ideal.

Your English teacher will not appreciate a photo when you are given a thousand word essay to complete. But for websites, quality images are essential. During your research you should discover some recommendations about image size and the image file size that are appropriate for websites. You should also be aware of copyright, you cannot download and use any image you want from another website without permission, it is illegal to do so.
